The boxing detective Part II--two days to go
Two days before the fight, Yours Truly, as in your favorite detective and also rather ironic publisher of the CEE Cheat Sheet and Crime Report, is feeling quite good in his 52-year-old, oft-plagued-by injuries body.
But obviously, we’ll see what happens Saturday night.
For those not in the know, Yours Truly will fight in the VI Biznes Boxing Executive Fight Night Gala to be held April 13 at 19:30, with the first fight of the night happening to be against an up-and-comer some 30 years younger.
Call it vanity? Suicide? A mid-life crisis? Not even I know. That said, there is still time to donate to the cause—which happens to be to Fundacja Badz, a three-year-old foundation out to help cancer victims, which can only mean one thing: our cause is just.
I say this as, at the age of 52, cancer has been to real in my life, with friends and family members either fighting it off or eventually falling victim to a scourge that comes in too many forms to describe. The skin, the prostate, the brain, the spine and sex organs.
There are plenty of causes—an endless number of causes that fairly boggle the mind. Our food is bad. Our water is bad. Chemicals are in the soil. Radioactive waste is everywhere. And when you see the ravages of cancer face to face—how something as simple as a mole-gone-bad can race through lymph and blood—you do wonder whether or not you or your loved ones will be next.
This is why I would once again encourage any and all to donate to this cause for even the smallest donation counts. Yes, the app is unwieldy (beyond my control), but if try it, it will work. At least do me a favor and try the link below:
Or come to the fight. The fighters combined proceeds actually are amounting to something, and it will be quite an event, with Yours Truly starting off the evening mano-a-mano with a younger, taller and longer-limbed opponent.

As for me, it has been hard knocks, the realities of age, bumps, bruises, bloody noses, lips and headaches—and a whole lot of fun. In the meantime, I dropped 10 full kilos from 93 kg to 83kg in two-and-a-half months. Which has to mean something.
